University Place Veterinary Hospital is a full-service animal hospital providing comprehensive pet healthcare in Tacoma, Washington. Our veterinarians offer a wide variety of medical, surgical, and dental services. Our hospital has advanced equipment and technologies, including comprehensive in-house testing for accurate diagnosis, digital x-ray, surgical suite, dental suite, ultrasound and a fully stocked in house & online pharmacies. To complement our doctors, we also have experienced licensed support staff, outstanding assistants, a strong practice manager and a local Regional Manager to provide additional support.
UPVH has three licensed veterinary technicians and one highly skilled assistant who is working towards completing a distance learning veterinary technician program, 4 experienced assistants (2 are cross-trained CSRs), 4 customer service representatives who are cross-training as assistants, 2 full-time DVMs, and 1 hospital manager.
A typical day consists of 30 minute appointments with each doctor having an assigned skilled assistant for the day, an hour during which our phones turn off and the doors are locked so that all of our team can enjoy lunch onsite or offsite, an additional 30 minute buffer before appointments resume to allow for catchup time and callbacks, then after an afternoon of appointments, leaving for the day on time. The entire staff takes advantage of 4 day work weeks. We are closed on weekends and 6 major holidays. We are open 8-6 Monday-Friday and do NOT offer any after-hours or on-call services. We have 30 minute department and all staff meetings scheduled on a 4-week-rotating schedule, enjoy periodic lunch & learns to stay on top of new products and treatments, and love to celebrate our staff!
We are ready to welcome in a new or recent grad with an established mentorship program or a seasoned candidate who is ready to share their knowledge with our motivated team. Mentorship program includes progressive scheduling beginning with hour-long appointments.
